A Different World

Did I just say in the previous post how everything seemed somewhat “normal” here?  Well that is in the modern downtown area.   Today I went to Little India.  In Singapore they have Chinatown, Little India and Arab Street.  Not very PC.  I have been to Chinatown in Boston and San Francisco and while I thought it was a culture shock at the time, this Chinatown is somehow different.  It is still so close to China so that it maintains so much of the original flair.  Undilluted if you will.  Little India is the same.  If I lived here I would definetely go to those places to shop.  They have fresh fruit and vegetable stands and they are so much cheaper.

And no wonder I accidentally bought shower soap!  There is so much more of it than lotion.  I finally found some in a grocery store

The thing I am most glad about bringing?  A little fold up tote that I can carry in my purse.  Great for Canton or Singapore! I don’t know what I would have done without it.  I filled it with laundry this morning and after I dropped that off used it for all of my finds in Little India.
